Make sure to keep carbohydrates low in your diet. Essential components of an IVF diet include vegetables, proteins, and healthy fats.

Drink Sufficient Water: Drinking a lot of water is recommended. That helps in removing the toxins from your body. At least two to three liters of water must be drunk to maintain proper health during the treatment.

 

Things Not To Do

High-Impact exercises: High-impact and cardio exercises deviate blood from the ovaries to the limbs. This makes it difficult to prepare the ovary for conception. In addition to that, IVF treatment leads to the enlargement of ovaries. So, there is a risk of ovarian torsion due to heavy exercise that might adversely affect the IVF treatment. To get going, limit yourself to yoga, walking, and modified exercises prescribed by experts.
 

Intercourse: It is best to abstain from sex during the IVF treatment. during the stimulation phase, multiple follicles are stimulated to ovulate at a time. Therefore, in the case of unexpected ovulation, intercourse might result in multiple pregnancies. Moreover, the treatment leads to enlarged ovaries and makes them cystic too. Intercourse might lead to a cyst rupture or ovarian torsion, worsening the situation.
 

Smoking And Alcohol: Smoking and alcohol remain a big no throughout your IVF cycle. In  addition to these, you should also cut down on your caffeine intake. It has been reported that caffeine consumption at levels as low as 50mg per day had an adverse impact on the success of the procedure.


 

After The Cycle

After the embryo transfer, don’t think that your list of IVF do and don’t is over. You still have a lot to take care of.
 

Things To Do

Take Proper Care: Stick to a healthy diet and drink lots and lots of water. Take adequate rest. Make sure that you are sleeping for about 7-8 hours a day. To feel recharged, you can also take naps in between. Do not forget your mental health. Share your thoughts, do things that you love, and meditate to keep calm as your body is trying to cope.
 

Stay Alert: if you experience any kind of unusual symptoms, then immediately visit your doctor. Bloating, fever, and difficulties in urinating should not be neglected.
 

Things Not To Do

Exercise: After your IVF embryo has been implanted, do not do any exercise for at least 10 days. To maintain movement, just walk around for a few minutes. Besides, make sure that your abdominal region is not stressed at all. Avoid bending at all costs as that might cause ovarian torsion.
 

Intercourse: Avoid having sex for at least 2 weeks post embryo transfer. The aim is to allow the embryo to embed in the uterine lining. For that, complete pelvic rest is recommended. Sex causes your uterus to contract. That might prevent the implantation of the embryo, resulting in a failed IVF.

 

Use Of tampons: after the embryo transfer, it is normal to experience spotting or mild bleeding. In such cases, do not use a tampon in order to prevent the risk of any kind of infection. Instead, use menstrual pads for hygiene purposes.
